How FuelStash came to be
In my free time I enjoy riding road and gravel bikes; professionally I work as a data scientist.
FuelStash is a hobby project – it came about because I couldn't find a fueling calculator that worked for me.
On long rides I keep noticing how much the right fueling matters, especially in the final kilometres. FuelStash helps me keep track of it, and maybe it does the same for you.
Science as our Foundation
The recommendations for your fueling and hydration are based on established sports science findings and current nutritional guidelines.
Our calculations are guided by key sports-scientific literature and organizations, including:
- ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) – Guidelines on carbohydrate intake and fluid needs during endurance exercise.
- Jeukendrup et al. (GSSI / Gatorade Sports Science Institute) – Scientific evidence on training the gut and absorption capacity.
- Dr. Asker Jeukendrup (Sports Medicine) – Pioneering research on dual-source carbohydrate ratios (glucose to fructose) for maximum oxidation.
- Maughan & Shirreffs / IOC Consensus – Research on sweat rates, sodium losses, and optimal rehydration strategies.
